It’s Raining UFO’s all Superbowl Weekend
NATO Declares Open Season on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena
The United States air force has shot down a UFO and sent a clandestine recovery team to the crash site. Man, it feels great to be able to write that sentence without using the word ‘allegedly.’ In fact, the whole thing is so extraordinary it has replaced the content I had originally planned for this newsletter edition.
Just a few days ago if you read an article on the above topic it would likely be followed by the infamous story of an alleged alien craft crashing near Roswell in 1947. Not this time, it’s 2023 and half the world is talking about the multiple takedowns of UFOs over the airspace of the United States and Canada. The language used by military officials and mainstream media platforms has paralleled descriptions normally associated with claims common to the UFO subculture. We will come to why that later point is important in a moment.
The Stealth Balloon
By now it is almost certain you have heard the story of the Chinese balloon which drifted across the US landmass for several days prior to a dramatic aerial takedown. Little did we know that the real drama and theatrics hadn’t even begun. This enormous, bus-length, gleaming white, balloon was quickly claimed by China as a rogue scientific data-gathering device (it certainly wasn’t very low-key spyware). Meanwhile, several additional aerial interlopers were subsequently detected and to date remain anonymous visitors.
From the moment this UFO media storm began there has been a steady stream of bizarre official statements and dramatic public relations theatrics. Three UFOs have since been shot down with air-to-air missiles. These interceptions involved the next-generation F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jet. The fourth object was brought down by an F-16 over Lake Huron, Michigan. Already a trending CGI video out of China has been making fun of the absurdity replete in having a super advanced F-22 Raptor engaging a lumbering weather balloon (whether it was spying or not).
The exact definition of the other three unidentified objects remains in question, following conflicting official statements. They are variously described as unknowns, balloons or balloon-like drones.
Can We Rule Out Bigfoot?
It really would have been so easy to just announce that they were all balloons and immediately quell the media storm, calm the populace, and return to business as normal. That is definitely not what has happened. Claims reported to CNN included alleged sensor systems disruptions in the F-35 fighter craft that initially investigated the object encountered over Alaska, followed by suggestions of mysterious propulsion systems. Later it has been suggested pilots involved dispute such EM interference.
“These are objects. I'm not able to categorise how they stay aloft," explains General Glen VanHerck, head of the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command.
VanHerck added, "It could be a gaseous type of balloon inside a structure, or it could be some type of propulsion system. But clearly, they're able to stay aloft."
When asked if the Pentagon had ruled out the possibility of extra-terrestrials the general shocked most listeners stating, "I haven't ruled out anything".
Are you rubbing your chin in bemusement yet? NORAD has not even ruled out aliens yet, while most assessments suggest they are all balloons. The combined US-Canada air forces have just officially announced the first-ever aerial engagement by their forces over the continental US, specifically designating the targets as UFOs, adding that they have not ruled out extraterrestrials.
The objects have widely been referred to as UFOs but due to the latest nomenclature update some journalists are calling them UAP (unidentified aerial/anomalous phenomena). At least one of the UFOs is described as cylindrical and car-sized, while another is a large octagonal structure with cables hanging from the bottom.
Convenient Crash Sites
To make things even murkier all the interception events occurred over water or in remote icy conditions, meaning it is slow going to retrieve remnants of the targets. The locations involved also offer the coincidental benefit of making it close to impossible for any members of the public to investigate for themselves. Might direct inspection of the crash sites cause the military to lose control of some aspects of their narrative? Like whether these objects even exist - let alone whether they are alien probes. We must take the military spokesperson’s word for everything.
A poignant comment was offered by David Burbach, professor of International Relations & National Security:
“It is embarrassing how nuts people are going. Unless we learn that the latest 3 objects -- much smaller than last week's -- were truly foreign surveillance devices and not just lost weather/amateur balloons, there's a strong likelihood we're shooting down trash.”
No More Little Green Men Jokes
Stop and process all this for a moment. Not long-ago pilots reporting seeing strange cylinders or octagons flying around might well have feared for their careers, the press would be running silly-season stories about little green men. Instead, we now have cutting-edge fighters scrambled by NORAD command and given the green light to blow them out of the skies with missiles. Rather than the typical secrecy, situation updates are going out to the public virtually in real-time. Reports not only don’t deny the possibility of alien involvement but very obviously include language that leverages the existing popular interest in ufology, deliberately fuelling intrigue and increasing the media reach and engagement.
Let’s not forget that all of this has been playing out over the Super Bowl weekend as millions of US citizens gather with family and friends, sharing any interesting news they’ve heard lately (you know, like aliens invading earth and stuff). One military UFO briefing was actually given during the Superbowl itself.
Someone is certainly playing a game with us, but it isn’t football.
On a mundane logical level, we could explain the sudden change in how UFOs are treated as a reaction to the presidential embarrassment generated by the seeming inaction regarding the initial Chinese balloon. It has also been reported that defence sensor capabilities have recently been modified to detect a wider range of aerial signatures, including slow-moving objects.
“With some adjustments, we've been able to get a better categorization of radar tracks now,' Vanherck said, “and that's why I think you're seeing these, plus there's a heightened alert to look for this information.”
Aerial Flotsam and F-22 Jetsam
We might also reasonably deduce that it’s likely we are simply seeing a lot of the miscellaneous junk that is always drifting across the Americas, usually going ignored. Many such objects are left freaking out members of the public who then report them to MUFON as mind-bending UFOs. If it is just aerial clutter, why the unprecedented response involving top-end advanced aircraft and senior leadership looking directly into news cameras to report potential alien UFOs being shot down?
What it feels like to me is a carefully controlled psychological operation sitting just below the surface of the primary narrative. Much of what has played out really does mirror the scenario we might expect were advanced alien craft to be intercepted by NORAD, with the most advanced hardware being employed to engage the interlopers sufficiently far from population centres. Strategic takedowns in locations where any valuable wreckage might be fully controlled by military recovery teams. All while the global media offers coordinated dissemination of state messaging to the public from senior military and officials.
It really sounds like something out of a Hollywood alien invasion movie.
You are now entering the hall of mirrors that has long been erected around the UFO subject.
Know Your UAP History
The reality is that nothing happening this week is truly sudden and out of nowhere. Since 2018 there has been a very deliberate UFO disclosure/narrative control effort spearheaded by insiders, former insiders, and current government officials. One stated aim has been to remove the UFO reporting stigma, another to plug a gap in the defence structures of the US. Let us quickly see the latest statements from several of the main voices in the UAP disclosure activism roadshow that have been involved with all this for the last five years.
Senator Mark Rubio: “The last 72 hours revealed to the public what has been happening for years, unidentified aircraft routinely operating over restricted U.S. airspace This is why I pushed to take this seriously & created a permanent UAP task force two years ago.”
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand: “This is exactly why we need to be studying Unidentified Aerial Phenomena — and why I fought to increase interagency cooperation and reduce stigma for reporting sightings. Because we're collecting and studying the data, we're able to detect these incursions and protect our skies.”
Former Deputy Secretary of defence, Christopher Mellon: “The USAF *really* has some explaining to do when it comes to UAP. People who are surprised at the presence of these objects haven't been paying attention-- One of the reasons why I've been calling for changes to our sensor and reporting procedures for years.”
Former USDI counterintelligence officer, Lue Elizondo: “This is one of the primary reasons I resigned from the Pentagon in 2017; no one was paying attention. Thanks to new legislation, we are now better prepared to monitor our skies. Keep in mind, the more we look up, the more we are going to see.”
Keep in mind that in one major respect, these people have been objectively vindicated, weird UFOs have indeed been penetrating US airspace for years with impunity. There absolutely is a hole in the defence of US airspace and it certainly could allow an enemy to covertly utilise surveillance equipment, EMP devices or biological weapons. Suddenly, their involvement with the UFO topic is not being laughed at by anyone. Mission achieved; success is theirs!
If you really follow the UFO/UAP subject you may well be a little bemused by the pivot here, considering that until now the disclosure story centred on extraordinary craft exhibiting anomalous capabilities beyond US technology – possibly breaking the understood laws of physics. The most prominent voices all spoke of strange vehicles of unknown origin that could travel from outer space into the atmosphere before plunging down into the ocean as though water were just thin air.
The Psy-op Unfolds
The glaring anomaly here is that it isn’t the usual suspects talking about the possibility of extraterrestrial involvement, quite the reverse, their offered comments are mundane and eminently reasonable. The really ‘out-there’ remarks are coming from NORAD command and the major media platforms. Everything is suddenly upside down; the mirror reality is taking precedence right before our eyes. VanHerck tells us that the objects were assessed as no threat, but despite that minor issue, they were promptly tackled with unprecedented overwhelming force.
My personal opinion is that this fiasco probably began with a simulation, likely a NORAD readiness training exercise to test the Raptor’s capabilities in the field, but someone senior co-opted the situation for public perception manipulation purposes. If this is indeed largely a psychological operation, then the specific details will be classified up the wazoo for the next 50 years.
With new reports of potential UFO engagements over China and Uruguay, it sure feels like we are being shepherded into a new UAP reality. There will be no need to look to the skies, these UFOs will be fed directly to billions of media devices. The rabbit hole beckons.
